Orphans in Our Communities was created by Dr. Suleiman Hani in response to a growing awareness that many vulnerable children in the United States remain without stable homes, while few Muslim families are familiar with foster care and adoption or how these pathways align with Islamic values.
Although caring for orphans has long been emphasized within the Islamic tradition, community engagement has often been limited to financial sponsorship abroad rather than hands-on care at home.
This project brings together faith-informed guidance, real experiences from Muslim families, and links to trusted resources to help close that gap. It exists solely as an educational resource, encouraging thoughtful, lawful, and responsible participation in the U.S. foster care and adoption system, with the well-being of children as its central concern.
